WAP

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) 2.0 was released by Open Mobile Alliance Ltd. (OMA; http://www.openmobilealliance.org). It defines a mechanism to allow Web content to be delivered to mobile devices with a mini web browser. WAP 1.0 was released in 1998 by the former WAP Forum based on a different protocol architecture. WAP 2.0 provides direct support of IP, TCP and HTTP, and bearer technology such as GPRS.
