OASIS

OASIS, Short form of Organization for Structured Information Standards, is a nonprofit, international consortium. Its goal is to promote the adoption of product-independent standards for information formats such as Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).

OC-x

OC-x is short form of Optical Carrier. The Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) includes a set of signal rate multiples for transmitting digital signals on optical fiber. The base rate (OC-1) is 51.84 Mbps. OC-x represents a link capable to transmit data in x multiple of OC-1.

ODBC is short form of Open Database Connectivity. It is an open standard application programming interface (API) for accessing a database.

OLAP is short form of Online Analytical Processing. The result enables a user to easily and selectively extract and view data from different points-of-view.

OLTP is short form of Online Transaction Processing. It is a kind of application that facilitates and manages transaction-oriented applications, typically for data entry and retrieval transactions in a number of industries, including banking, airlines, mail-order, supermarkets, and manufacturers.

OpenGL is an industry's standard application program interface (API) for defining 2-D and 3-D graphic images.

OSI Reference Model

Short form of Open Systems Interconnection. A standard reference model for communication between two end users in a network. It is used in developing products and understanding networks. It divides the process into 7 layers and their interactivities. The 7 layers are Application Layer, Presentation Layer, Session Layer, Transport Layer, Network Layer, Datalink Layer and Physical Layer.
